Carl Powell has more than 40 years training, motivating and entertaining people all over the world “mindfully moving” them to become more physically fit for life.
As a Personal Trainer, he has extensive experience evaluating each individual to determine their current fitness level and goals. He does not subscribe to the “one size fits all” mindset. Carl develops a unique exercise program for each individual client.
He began teaching aerobics at a local San Francisco YMCA in 1980; within one year he was the manager at San Francisco’s 25th Street Workout. This is where Carl began developing his personal style as a fitness professional. During the period of 1985 to 1990, he opened 4 Gold’s Gym locations, and managed a staff of over 120.
From 1990 to 2002, he traveled, learning, trained, and mentored in many forms of physical fitness. In 2002 Carl returned to the US and opened a studio in Laurel, MD. After 10 years in Laurel, he returned to Maui in 2015 where he currently resides.
Carl is also is an award winning speaker and the author of three books.

His world travel included destinations such as Japan, Germany, Holland, Norway, Denmark, Israel, Scotland, Wales, Russia, and South Africa, teaching personal trainers and dance instructors at fitness conventions and expos.
While living abroad, he had the opportunity to sell fitness products on QVC Germany, help open health clubs training and managing fitness staff, and share to his motivational skills with US Troops.
For seven years, he also conducted fitness and motivation sessions on the Tom Joyner Morning Show’s annual Fantastic Voyage Cruise where he worked with stars such as Patti Labelle, Tyler Perry, and Steve Harvey. His work in wellness has been featured in Ebony magazine. Carl is stranger to the camera, he has also appeared on numerous local and national television shows sharing his knowledge of fitness and motivation.
Carl currently teaches his program Mindful Movement Method which includes Qigong, Pilates, Yoga, Strength Training, and Meditation online . He is also a featured instructors for the Silver and Fit program.
